Although Ottawa has been known as a “Silicon Valley North”, and, thus, a lot of software testers and QA analysts lived and worked there, it turned out that there is no meetup group for such professionals in the city.

Now, as suggested by Paul Holland, a new meetup “Software Testing and QA in Silicon Valley North (Ottawa)” has been created, I hope to attract that part of an IT crowd who may be interested in the following topics:

• Software QA and Testing
• Software Quality & Quality Assurance
• New Testing Techniques
• Agile testing & Agile Methods in general
• Test Automation, Test Automation Frameworks & Software QA Tools
• Anything else you think worth discussing

Also during the meeting we will touch the following:

• Between a rock and a hard place: testers between managers and s/w designers
• Job prospects for software testers and related occupations in Ottawa area: how to keep current to be employable vs. deadlines and workload
• Also sprach Zarathustra: How to invite a QA giru (Martin Hynie, e.g.) and have him share some pearls of his experience

The first meeting is scheduled tentatively on Dec. 12th in Brookstreet Hotel (http://www.meetup.com/QA-and-software-testing-in-Silicon-Valley-North-Ottawa/events/153543212/) at 7 p.m.

However, suggestion concerning place and, especially, date (it’s Christmas season, after all) are welcome.
